Storm Receive Funding Boost
Newton Storm ARLFC are delighted to announce that Awards for All have approved a grant application for the club at a value of nearly £9,000.
The funding will pay for the delivery of coaching sessions for Y1-Y6 children in all 11 primary schools where the Club has an official school/club link.
Within the next 12 months, more than 500 children will be taught rugby league skills by Newton Storm's coaches, who in the past have needed to take time off from work to undertake schools coaching in a voluntary basis.
Coaching sessions can start in September 2008 throughout the next school year and the funding also includes for a summer rugby festival in June 2009.
A spokesman for the Storm said: “We put a lot of hard work into the application and are delighted with the news from Awards for All. This is a great catalyst for our player recruitment over the next 12 months and will certainly help raise awareness of Newton Storm ARLFC amongst the children in the town.
“Thanks to u11s coach Malc Hankey for putting the application together, Treasurer Ken Tinkley for providing the supporting information and to Steve Sexton (St Helens RLFC) who kindly acted as a reference for the club.”
