Daniel Anderson is expecting Harlequins RL to provide a tough test this Saturday.
Brian McDermott’s team are currently lying in eighth in the engage Super League, but have recently beaten Leeds on at the Stoop and Saints’ Head Coach is preparing for a real challenge.
“The teams that are sixth and below in the league – all the way down to Cas – can have mixed games by their own standards,” he said. “But they can have periods when they play really well and we need to be wary of that.
“They have beaten Leeds and we are preparing for the sort of side that produced that performance.”
Saints will clock up their 13th straight win if they win at the Stoop and there is a chance Chris Flannery could feature in the game.
“Flannery will play against Castleford and is pushing for this week”, Anderson continued. “But I would rate his chances at less than 50 per cent.
“Longy (Sean Long) is being treated for a caulk/cork (sic) on his thigh – he came off early in the game against Huddersfield – but I think he should be close to playing on Saturday.
“Gilly (Lee Gilmour) is in doubt though. His partner is due to have a baby this week so he won’t travel if it hasn’t arrived by the weekend.
“Leon will be back after being rested.”
Daniel also gave some indication of the other players on the treatment table: “JC is still touch and go for semi and Nick Fozzard is six to seven weeks away. With Flannery coming back into the reckoning we will be getting some seasoned players back.
“It means I can rotate and rest some players who perhaps didn’t expect to play as many games this season.”
He continues: “The biggest bonus I have had this year is Scully. Having an extra back-rower is a bonus, especially someone with his experience and ability. He is improving all the time.
“Long, Keiron, Robes and Leon run the attacking show at Saints and he is carving out a niche for himself by playing off them. His passing ability gives us an extra dimension. He has wonderful hands; the hands of a half back.”
If selected, Paul Clough will make his 50th appearance for the Club on Saturday.
