St. Helens remain in pole position in the Frontline Fairplay Index after becoming the first team in the history of the Index not to concede a penalty during a regular engage Super League fixture.
Saints conceded no penalties during their 54-0 victory over Harlequins at The Stoop on Saturday.
St. Helens Coach Daniel Anderson said: “One thing that came out of last weekend’s game at Harlequins was the zero penalty count we gave away.
“Whilst we were probably a little lucky during that game we want to play in a disciplined manner and that is something we have talked about all year.
“Accidental penalties are part and parcel of the game, but the players know they will give penalties away if they take short cuts. “
This achievement allowed them to cement their place at the top of the Frontline Fairplay Index and they are strong favourites to collect the £5,000 prize and trophy at the end of the season.
Bradford Bulls conceded the most points during Round 20 but remain in third place in the Index whilst Hull FC are second but are 29 points behind the leaders.
The teams which finish top of the Frontline Fairplay Index in the engage Super League and Co-operative National League One at the end of the regular season will be presented with a £5,000 prize from leading bathroom suppliers Frontline Bathrooms as well as a specially engraved trophy.
