Kieron Purtill will return to St Helens Rugby League Football Club at the beginning of the 2009 season after he was named Assistant Coach.
He will link up with new Head Coach Mick Potter after spending three years at Huddersfield Giants.
Kieron, a former halfback with Leigh Centurions, was assistant to Jon Sharp in Super Leagues XI, XII and XIII and is currently joint head coach at the Giants with Paul Anderson.
He said: “The prospect to work again at Super League’s most successful club with a fantastic playing roster is very appealing and you don’t often get a chance to go back were your coaching career began.
“I would like to thank everyone at Huddersfield Giants for their support over the last three years. I have experienced some great moments and made lasting friendships at my time at the Giants. At this stage in my coaching career I feel the time is right to move on and further enhance my coaching knowledge.
“I am looking forward to the challenge ahead; these are exciting times both on and off the field for St Helens Rugby League Club.”
Saints’ current assistant, Mike Rush, will be returning to his former High Performance role with particular emphasis on Youth Performance as well as continuing his work with the first team on a daily basis.
He said: “As Head of Youth Development, I will be able to oversee the production of home grown youngsters whilst making sure our existing academy set up realises quality first team players.
“I have enjoyed every minute of my role as assistant to Daniel Anderson and have learnt a lot in the process.”
Current Player Performance Manager Neil Kilshaw, will head up the Club’s Scholarship Programme, which has seen the likes of James Graham, James Roby and Paul Clough, emerge from its ranks.
