Sunday's homecoming, as reported, was cancelled because of a fire at the ground that knocked out the Club's power.
Without electricity, the Club's Safety Certificate would not allow the stadium to be opened.
In the interests of safety, it would have also been unwise to allow any subsequent event to take place on the Training Pitch.
Every effort was made to inform the public of the cancellation via local media outlets and the internet and the stewards – who had given up their Sunday – and the ground safety team were on hand to explain the situation to fans as they arrived at the GPW Stadium.
We would like to pass on our apologies to all fans and share their disappointment at cancelling the homecoming.
The club spent two weeks organising the event and like the players, is very disappointed that it could not formally say good-bye to Daniel.
