Bus operator Arriva has teamed up with St Helens Rugby League Club in a groundbreaking new deal.
The transport company, which operates more than 95 per cent of services in the town, is now an Official Community Partner and will help promote key events and games throughout the season.
The partnership was launched today by Saints’ star James Roby and local St Helens lad and Saints’ fan Johnny Vegas.
The deal will also see a number of Arriva buses feature distinctive Saints branding, including images of star players including Jon Wilkin and Keiron Cunningham.
James – the reigning Man of Steel – appears on the first branded bus that forms part of a fleet of a further seven buses which will run on all major routes across St Helens.
Future activity will involve developing the partnership, with Arriva providing buses for schools and community groups across the borough to offer children and young people transport to Knowsley Road on a match night.
Nick Gordon, Marketing Manager for Arriva North West and Wales, said: “Saints has a superb reputation as a community club and a great relationship with its fans. Hopefully, with our support, we can help to strengthen this even further.”
Emma Knight, Saints Community Marketing Manager added: “We are delighted to announce a community partnership with Arriva, which we hope to develop throughout the season with further community initiatives to fully benefit our fans.”
