St Helens Rugby League Club are delighted that the Planning Application for its new Stadium project is scheduled to be considered by St. Helens Council’s Planning Committee on May 20.
Saints Chief Executive Tony Colquitt said: “As a Club we are committed to the project and delighted it will go in front of Planning Officials in May. The stadium will be a facility for the community as a whole.
“Saints recognise that the project is very complex and covers three different sites in the Borough and involves the new site, United Glass, our existing Knowsley Road site and the existing Tesco site in Chalon Way.
“We totally understand the length of time taken for the application to be considered and know that our partners, Langtree, have been working extremely hard to bring this development forward.
“We would hope the decision taken by St Helens Council will be the final stage, but understand that the decision may be taken out of local hands and referred to London for further scrutiny which will be an unfortunate further delay but one we will have to work with.”
He continued: “Saints remain committed to playing a leading role in the Community and being part of the Council’s plans to energise the local economy of the town and to developing facilities for young people and the community.
“Our marketing plans for this season have focussed on the Community and the people of St Helens, and we look forward to playing an ever increasing role in the Community as well as establishing ourselves further as a Community based club within the St Helens area.”
