St Helens Rugby League Club have announced the appointment of Catalan Dragons’ coach Mick Potter on a two-year contract commencing 2009.
Potter will take over from Daniel Anderson who some time ago announced his intention to return to Australia at the end of the 2008 season.
Saints’ Chairman, Eamonn McManus, stated: “We are very pleased that Mick has accepted the role of Head Coach of the Saints. He is a coach with a continuously improving track record and whose career is in the ascendancy.
“We are confident that he can continue the brilliant work which Daniel Anderson has done at the Club in the last three years.
“Mick will remain totally committed to the Catalan Dragons for the rest of this season and, likewise, St Helens are in the meantime only interested in further success under Daniel.”
Mick Potter stated: “It is a privilege and an honour to be considered for the position of Head Coach at St Helens and I am delighted to have been appointed and to be associated with this world famous Club. I am looking forward to next season.
“However, my immediate commitment is now to the Catalan Dragons, its players and supporters to continue the good work and progress the Club has achieved.”
