Castleford Tigers Saints
30   24
Saints went down to a shock loss away at Castleford who pulled back a 16-10 half time deficit to win 30-24.

A last gasp try from Luke Dorn gave Castleford the spoils after Daniel Anderson’s men looked set to secure a vital away point.

Missing Lee Gilmour, James Graham, as well as Willie Talau, Bryn Hargreaves, and long termers Nick Fozzard, Keiron Cunningham and Paul Sculthorpe, Saints had an unfamiliar look with Ste Tyrer in the centres and Gareth Frodsham making his first start.

Castleford edged the opening exchanges racing to a 10-0 lead courtesy of Joe Westerman and Kirk Dixon.

But Saints’ response was swift when James Roby fed Paul Clough to score his third of the season.

Maurie Fa’asavalu then took a short ball to bash his way over and Ade Gardner notched up his 100th try to give Saints 16-10 lead at half time.

Castleford hit back two minutes into the second half when Westerman fed Richard Owen to go in the corner.

Ste Tyrer responded quickly, with Long goaling to make it 22-14.

Westerman fed Owen for his second, before Long made it 24-18, then Dixon out jumped the defence to collect and ground the ball.

Huby slotted a pearler from the touchline to level the game.

Fa’asavalu was then sent off for running into a melee, and with seconds to go a drop kick attempt was charged down and Dorn collected the ricochet to win the game for the Tigers.
