This Friday, 12 April, Saints and the Wolves will go to WAR...
Both teams have set the pace and currently command the top end of the Betfred Super League table and it will soon be the time to see who are the Champions-elect, as the two sides go head-to-head for the first time in 2019!
The Wolves will head to the fortress of the Totally Wicked Stadium, a venue at which the Saints are undefeated in 2019, and where they have only lost three times since the beginning of last season. The six-time Super League winning veterans will be ready and waiting for the Wolves.
Both teams bristle with firepower across the field, with the Saints’ armoury stocked with the likes of Lachlan Coote, Kevin Naiqama, Regan Grace and Jonny Lomax battling against the Wolves arsenal of talent, including Blake Austin, Stefan Ratchford and Josh Charnley.
The fixture has bred one of the greatest rivalries in the Super League era, with countless last-minute dramas littering the fixtures throughout the seasons. From Sean Long’s pair of match-winning drop goals in 2005 and 2008 at Knowsley Road, to Keiron Cunningham’s after-the-hooter barge over try to win the game at Warrington, also back in 2005.
The Wolves have also had their share of big moments in recent times, including a gutting defeat for Saints in last season’s Super League Semi-final.
That result needs to be put right…
