Secondary school competition and player development is aimed at increasing local opportunities for secondary school boys to play Rugby League.

This is either for the first time or to assist in providing more regular opportunities for students at Key Stage 3 (year 7 – 9 boys) to play.

SCDF offers CPD workshops for secondary school teachers and community coaches of U12-U14 to help young players stay and succeed in Rugby League. SCDF take the lead of secondary schools Rugby League competitions and assist competing schools in the prestigious champion schools competitions.

Playing opportunities for high school pupils in St Helens include the local St Helens area competition, Regional and National champion schools competitions, emerging cluster festivals and the SkyTry nine-a-side competitions.
