SCDF are delighted to be working with NHS and RL Cares to pilot an innovative new programme that promotes recruitment into NHS roles and the retention of NHS staff.

This programme is increasingly important at a time in which the NHS faces increased pressures regarding a recruitment crisis, and when front-line staff have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic with regards their own mental and physical health.

Through this pilot, we aim to showcase how Rugby League, and Rugby League communities can be a sustainable source of support to our NHS partners, by activating our players, our fan base and our influential brands as strong community assets to generate positive change for and within the NHS workforce.

We kickstarted this campaign by offering 3000 free tickets to staff from St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (Whiston, St Helens. Newton), NHS St Helens CCG, Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, St Helens Council – for social care staff, Northwest Ambulance Service – for paramedics and other ambulance/patient transport, communications team at North West Ambulance Service, local GP Practises and staff at the vaccination centres.

To see the fantastic work that we will be achieving over the coming months, please stay tuned to all of The Foundations social media platforms!
