The club beat off significant interest from other Super League clubs to secure James on a three-year contract.

Dubbed the best player in the Championship “by an absolute mile” by former Saints star Leon Pryce, he made his debut for the Bulls against Oldham in 2016.

He played 28 games for Bradford, scooping their Young Player and Players’ Player of the Year awards as well as being named the Championship’s Young Player of the Year.

The back rower played for Oulton Raiders before progressing through Bradford Bulls’ Academy ranks.

He spent the majority of 2018 on dual-registration at Sheffield but made his first team debut at home to Hull FC when Saints lifted the League Leaders’ Shield.

Two more appearances followed as did an International call-up to Ireland for their European Championship campaign.
