Highly thought of by his Red V teammates and coaches, the former Thatto Heath junior has worked through the Saints system, earning Under 16s Player of the Year in 2016 and 2020’s Academy Player of the Year before joining the senior squad for the first time in 2021.

Royle has earned more match opportunities each year, and during the 2022 season Royle also earned the unique privilege of captaining the Saints at every level (Scholarship, Academy, Reserves and First Team), when he led out a young Saints side away at Castleford just after Easter that season.

In 2023 Royle was part of the travelling party who went around the world to Australia and brought home to St Helens the World Club Challenge trophy!

Consistently a leader, Royle featured for our Reserves regularly and led the team as captain. In July 2024 he scored his first senior score for the Saints at the Totally Wicked Stadium, on his next appearance also at home he registered his second!
