Daniel Anderson says this weekend is one the biggest of the season for the top three.
A win for Saints would see them remain top and with Leeds away at Catalan there is all manner of scenarios for the League’s top trio.
“It shows what steps the comp as taken,” says Saints’ head coach. “We are happy with where we are at the moment and obviously want to continue our run.
“Despite their defeat last weekend, Wigan were superb against Leeds and will want to win to continue their push into the top four.”
Warriors’ new signing Tim Smith may play in the game but Anderson reckons it will be a tough ask: “Tim hasn’t played for months, but if he plays good luck to him. It’s obviously a gamble pitting him into a Derby match for his first game.”
Lee Gilmour has had a taste of both sides of the Derby and reckons the passion from the terraces feeds off on to the pitch.
“It’s big for the fans and for the players too,” he said. “You look forward to many games, but the matches against Leeds, Bradford and Wigan are always massive games.”
Meanwhile, Daniel reckons Leon Pryce, James Graham and Keiron Cunningham alongside a couple of other Saints players are right up there for the Man of Steel accolade:
“Leon is very impressive at the moment, and so is James Graham. He carried the ball 29 times on Friday and ran more than 200 metres. It is ludicrous the figures he is posting at the moment.
“But Keiron is also in exceptional form this year too.”
Saints expect the squad from last week’s Castleford game to all be available on Friday.
