Ahead of next weekend’s Carnegie Challenge Cup semi-finals, The People newspaper will be publishing a special supplement on Sunday (20 July) dedicated to the world famous knockout tournament.
The eight page pull-out will include interviews with a number of coaches and players involved in the last four of the 111 year old competition, together with a look ahead to the final on 30 August.
The RFL will also be unveiling the shortlist of its ‘Cup of Memories’ campaign.
Since the start of this year’s competition members of the media, players, coaches and spectators have been e-mailing the RFL with their most memorable Challenge Cup moment. A shortlist of five has been drawn up and supporters will be invited to vote for their favourite with the winner announced on 30 August, the day of the final.
BBC pundit and Co-operative ‘Good for Everyone’ campaign ambassador Robbie Paul will be running his eye over the teams in the last four, giving his views on where the games will be won and lost.
Craig Spence, the RFL’s Communications Manager, said: “The Carnegie Challenge Cup is the most famous and prestigious competition in world Rugby League and the closer we get towards the final the more interest is generated.
“Not only will this supplement proved popular with Rugby League supporters but also neutrals who have grown up watching the climax of this great competition on television each year.”

The People’s Carnegie Challenge Cup special will be available in all newsagents and supermarkets on Sunday 20 July priced 90p.
