Wigan Warriors fell three places this week in the Frontline Fairplay Index to seventh following Michael McIlorum’s sending off and subsequent two game suspension.
The hooker was sent off after just five minutes in the Warriors’ clash with local rivals St Helens.
Castleford Tigers, Leeds Rhinos and Bradford Bulls all moved up places as a result of the 24 points Wigan conceded this week.
If good discipline wins games then it is likely that this year’s Carnegie Challenge Cup final will be between St Helens and Hull FC.
Ahead of this weekend’s semi-finals St Helens top the Index, 81 points ahead of Saturday’s opponents Leeds Rhinos. Hull FC are second, 73 points in front of ninth placed Wakefield Wildcats.
The team which finishes top of the Frontline Fairplay Index in the engage Super League and Co-operative National League One at the end of the regular season will be presented with a £5,000 prize from leading bathrooms supplier Frontline Bathrooms as well as a specially engraved trophy.
