Matt Gidley Signs Contract Extension

15th Aug 2008, 12:48pm

Saints’ international centre, Matt Gidley, has put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension.

The 31-year-old Australian has made 60 appearances in two highly successful years at the Club and already has Challenge Cup and World Club Championship honours with the Saints.

‘Gids’ has also notched up 23 tries and three goals.

Saints Chief Executive, Tony Colquitt, said: “Matt is a world class player and has made his partnership with Ade Gardner one of the most feared in Super League.

“We are delighted he has agreed to stay with us for another season.”

Matt added: “It is great to know that I will be a part of a forward thinking Club and a great set of teammates for another year. I have really enjoyed my two seasons at the Club and look forward to hunting more silverware in this and next season.”

Matt signed from Newcastle Knights for the 2007 season after making 221 appearances for the NRL team.

He has also played 11 times for his country, made 11 State of Origin appearances for New South Wales and taken in two City v Country games.

His one-year contract extension will see him remain at the Club until end of season 2009.
