SAINTS have played host to their last ever Smart School – with Bleak Hill Primary having the honour of closing the programme and capturing their moment of heritage.
The original School offered a new innovative service to local schools to provide a cross curricular experience at the ground.
It was the brain child of the now SCDF Community Saints Director Gordon Pennington, who said: “It seems like only yesterday that the first schools were coming through the doors and now, 14 years later as Bleak Hill depart, we have seen more than 20,000 young people enjoy the Saints experience.”
The current programme will be re-launched soon with help from the Halton and St Helens Primary Care Trust to encourage our local young people to live active lifestyles and to learn more about health and nutrition.
Many of Saints first teamers have fond memories of attending Smart School and having their first chance to try on first team jerseys.
Youngsters as James Roby, Gary Wheeler, Gaz Frodsham and Paul Clough have fond memories of Smart School and now a new era dawns for Saints on and off the field.
Here's to the future.
