SAINTS hooker James Roby has been named Frontline Index Player of the Round for the third time this season following his outstanding display in last Friday’s 52-6 victory over Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
The England star, who was also Player of the Round in the opening two rounds of Engage Super League, topped the table in Round 10 with 870 index points.
According to Opta statistics, Roby is the most consistent player of the season so far with the highest average points score for performance.
Roby is joined in the Frontline Index Team of the Round by team-mates Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook and Jonny Lomax.
Salford City Reds duo Ashley Gibson and Daniel Holdsworth feature in this week’s select after their outstanding effort in Saturday’s 56-16 triumph against Bradford along with the Bulls’ captain Andy Lynch.
Wigan Warriors pair Ryan Hoffman and Josh Charnley make the Team of the Round following their team’s 28-16 victory against Hull Kingston Rovers. Matt Cook of Hull KR also features in the select.
Making up the Team of the Round are Warrington Wolves’ Brett Hodgson, Castleford Tigers’ Kirk Dixon, Tony Clubb of Harlequins RL and Huddersfield Giants player Dale Ferguson.
Points are calculated from every action made by players with every involvement given a points value depending on the importance and frequency of the action. For example a try would be the highest scoring value, with actions such as tackles and carries scoring smaller values. Mistakes such as handling errors or penalties conceded would incur negative values.
At the end of a match, all the players’ actions will be added together to give a game score. The 13 individuals with the highest scores in each position on the field of play will earn inclusion in the Frontline Index Team of the Week with the highest scoring individual earning the Frontline Index Player of the Week title.
Castleford Tigers player Rangi Chase is still in the lead for the £1,000 prize that will be awarded at the Engage Super League Man of Steel dinner for the single most outstanding performance during the regular season after scoring 1,049 index points.
