ROYCE Simmons hailed his side’s professional performance as they ran in twelve tries to beat Featherstone and head into the Carnegie Challenge Cup Quarter Final draw.
Ten different scorers contributed to the 70-0 win with the trusty boot of Jamie Foster kicking 11 from 12.
“Featherstone are a side that are used to winning and they put up a lot of resistance early on,” he said. “Our last pass went to ground three or four times in the opening 20 minutes and they were missed opportunities.
“But from there it was a real professional performance. We talked in the week about improving our defence and to keep them to nil was very pleasing.
“At half time we spoke about concentrating for the full 80 and we did that – scoring some good tries and getting that polished performance.
“Wilko’s kicking game was good – he hit the ground and our kick chase was good too.
“Foster’s kicking was good in those conditions and I think the one that missed easily went over too.”
He continued: “Warren Thompson did well on his debut and he got to sing the team song at the end to celebrate his bow and scoring a try.
“It would have been a great moment for him.”
The draw for the Quarter Finals of the Carnegie Challenge Cup will take place on Monday on BBC1 Yorkshire at 6.30pm (SKY Channel 976), with the ties to be played over the weekend of July 22-24.
