MIKE Rush’s latest blog looks at another day of ‘active’ rest for the lads and staff… lucky blighters!
Following a great win the night before, the lads were very excited at the thought of spending the day surfing at Manly.
The day started off in usual fashion with a great comment from one of our front rowers: “Will there be sand at the beach?”
Brad doesn’t want me to let anyone know who said it so I can’t.
The lads never fail to disappoint the staff with their questions and you should be grateful that I can only place on this blog the ones that have a PG rating.
The players seemed to enjoy the surf lesson and most if not all managed to get up on the board for a short spell.
But it was staff who stole the show with all an outstanding demonstration of skill and balance to show the young guns just how it should be done.
We’re half-way through the trip and all are having a great time – but everyone misses home and all talk with excited tones when they get the chance to chat to friends and family back in St Helens.
Not long to go and we will all be home with more tales to share!
Once again thanks to all those who have supported the trip by means of sponsorship, fundraising and I am sure you can see that not only do the players gain a valuable life experience but they also return home better Rugby League players.
Who knows may be in two years’ time some of these names will be in a grand final team just like Tommy Makinson for the 2009 trip.
