MIKE Rush, Head of Youth, reports on one of the highlights of the Academy’s Australian Tour – the trip to the Sydney Cricket Ground.
I am not sure the players are fully up to speed with the history of the SCG but after a short lesson from Uncle Derek and some match reports from the legend Mr Eric Chisnall they start to understand how lucky they are.
The venue is the best in the world for the team photo and we are one of very few teams in the game that still have the privilege of being able to have the stadium for the day.
This year the experience was made all the better with the visit of Mark Taylor, the former Australian Cricket Captain, for a short spell pre photo.
As you can see from the photos the venue and weather were excellent and the picture will be a every lasting memory to all concerned.
Following the picture, the lads headed off for a training session around the corner from Bondi, with a view of the city – again one of the best back drops to any training session we have on the trip.
No real classics from the kids; maybe they are learning to think before they speak…. That’s disappointing if they are!
The Cronulla game is on Sunday so tomorrow (Saturday) we will head to the Blue Mountains for a rest day before taking on the Sharks at 3.00pm, at Forshaw Park at Sylvania Waters (Southern Districts Rugby).
Enjoy the photo.
