THE Saints have expressed their delight at the success of local boy and Saints’ fan, Martin Murray, on the world boxing stage after his agonisingly close bid to capture the world title in Germany at the weekend.
His bout ended in a controversial draw when most saw a clear win for Martin.
Saints Chairman Eamonn McManus stated: “Along with the rest of the town, we are all proud of Martin and his amazing achievements and were willing him on at the weekend.
“He looks set to be on the world stage for some time to come and it’s good to see a local boy in turn showing pride in his background and his town.
“The town now possesses two sporting institutions in the Saints and in Martin Murray and it’s heart warming that each is a big supporter of the other.”
