ST HELENS full-back Paul Wellens will miss the Good Friday derby against Wigan Warriors after failing in his appeal against the one-match ban imposed by the RFL Disciplinary Committee for a Grade B dangerous throw on Lee Briers of Warrington Wolves in a Stobart Super League fixture last week.
Wellens submitted a letter of reference from Lee Briers in his appeal, which was heard this afternoon, but the panel ruled that Wellens was responsible for putting his opponent in a dangerous position in the seventh-minute tackle.
