Louie: Chomping At Bit

LOUIE McCarthy-Scarsbrook is hoping to reap the benefits of a “long and hard, wet and windy” pre-season.

The 26-year-old prop says the last few weeks have been the hardest he can remember but everything points towards a successful year.

“It’s been good under Browny [Nathan Brown] so far,” he said. “He is clued up and smart in his ways of attacking and defending and tactical in the way we play. KC and Jamahl [Lolesi] have been good too.

“We have done a lot of work on Formby beach and it has been really tough, but that’s pre-season isn’t it?

“We are hoping for a big season and hopefully we will win every game by 40 points or more! That would be a good season. No seriously, I know I have a lot of improvement in me and I am listening to the coaching staff a lot. We are chomping at the bit to win some silverware at this club.

“It would be great to play in the World Cup, but I want to play well for Saints. If it comes along I will grab it with both hands, if not, it isn’t meant to be.”

He continues: “Friday’s match will be good because we are looking forward to playing. Pre-season is good because we are training, but we will have to find our routine once again. It will be a shock for the body I know that.”

Tickets for the match which kicks off at 8pm on Friday January 11 are now on sale. You can buy from the Ticket Office at Langtree Park or by calling 01744 455 052.
You can also pay on the day.
