Brown Happy With Improvement

NATHAN Brown was pleased with the improvement Saints displayed in their 42-12 win over Wakefield Wildcats on Sunday.

His side ran in eight tries in their second run out of pre-season in Jon Wilkin’s Testimonial.

“We had to improve in some areas and we did that,” he said. “There were a couple of areas where we weren’t as good as last week but overall from week one to week two we feel like we are progressing.

“We tried to get as near to our top 20 players as we could and we gave 17 or 18 players as much time as we could. We have to reasonably happy with our performance but we know that week by week we have to make some gradual adjustments to improve.

“Our goal line defence looked good and at times we looked comfortable. We know we have some more video work and a lot of work ahead of us.”

He continued: “We have a reasonably healthy squad; only Paul Clough and Gary Wheeler haven’t played yet. Big Joe Greenwood is looking likely isn’t he but we have a number of things to look at.

“It is early in the year though, we’ve played two friendlies and things have gone well.”
