Brown: Take The Positives

NATHAN Brown wants his charges to take the positives out of their last two matches when they face Hull KR on Saturday.

Saints have lost their last two games in close contest – but had opportunities to win both late on.

“We have to keep on competing,” he said. “We’ve held on under some tough circumstances recently and the penalty count at Hull KR was 15-7 last time we played there – hopefully we get someone who doesn’t want to blow the pea out of the whistle this week…

“We made a lot of tackles against Catalan and had to defend a fair bit on our own 20 too. We hung in there really well, stayed in contact with our opponents and at the back end of both games in the last two weeks we’ve had a chance to win or draw level and we’ve let ourselves down.

“That execution comes with experience, but we have to keep competing hard. We are learning a little more about who to play where as we go forward and we will improve once again this week.”

He continued: “We have learnt a fair bit about ourselves over the last two games. Last time we faced Hull KR it was a close contest. We got penalised and spent a lot of time on try line so we know we can do well and improve.

“It is a tough draw and we need to find a way to win the game. We have experienced players back and they will bring some size to the team.

“We have lacked some size but Alex Walmsley is going really well. He has adapted to the speed of the game well and is probably playing more time than he expected. He’s a big thing isn’t he? A real find for us. He’s picking himself for sure at the moment.”
