Louie Wants More Form

LOUIE McCarthy-Scarsbrook was pleased with the performance over in Catalan and wants that to continue this week.

The 27-year-old has been a revelation at loose forward over recent weeks and believes Saints are beginning to hit some form.

“It was a good performance by the lads,” he said. “The team bought into the system, went out there, turned up and played really well. It was a good team performance.

“Catalan are a physical side and aren’t a team that are going to let you walk all over them. We stuck to the gameplan and for the first 20 minutes we looked very comfortable. We went a little lopsided when one of our attacking threats was taken out of the game, but regrouped and showed what we could do.”

Saints are now up to and but face a different proposition this Friday in London Broncos who are going through the mill.

But, they almost turned Leeds over last week and that makes them very dangerous indeed.

“It’s sad to see my former club in their current situation and of course I would have loved to have seen them at Wembley,” Louie added. “I hope they can keep going because they are a good side.

“David Hughes has done an amazing job down there and I have a lot of respect for him. He cares for the sport down there and wants it to be successful. Hopefully, they can get that success soon.

“Jamie Soward is in for the rest of the season and he looks really good. That mentality will rub off on the youngsters and they can become a strong team.

“There are good youth players coming through and a good scholarship too. There is no quick fix but you can see the youngsters coming through.”

Tickets for Friday’s game are still available from the Ticket Office at Langtree Park, by calling 01744 455 052 or by logging on here.
