NATHAN Brown says this Friday’s clash with Warrington is ideal preparation for the playoffs.
Saints face the Wolves and Hull FC in the last two matches of the regular season aiming to continue their great run of form.
And he expects the weekend off to have done the lads a world of good.
“We’ve had a few weekends off so far this season and have been using them to our advantage,” Brown said. “Some players will have used the time to get over niggling injuries and we have been tidying up some parts of our game too.
“The good thing for us is that we have been winning and that is a good thing to do at this time of the year. Our performances have been a little mixed but we have found ways to win which is important. Warrington and Hull are two sides with genuine chances and so these games are a real opportunity to learn where we are at and what we need to do before we go into the playoffs.
“We have been playing sides that aren’t going to be in the playoffs and sometimes you can win those games without having to do enough. If the ball doesn’t bounce their way then they can be a little bit more carefree. The next two weeks are important for us as we are going to get challenged more.
“We played Wigan and did well and then faced sides who aren’t in the playoffs. Whilst we won those games we didn’t play as well as we have in previous games. To beat Warrington this week we have to play well.
“We need to keep on improving and what unfolds on the table will happen. We have had some momentum in the last eight weeks and we need to continue that.”
Saints have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the match and there’s further good news as James Roby is expected to return next week.
“He could probably play at a push, but it would be better for him to wait a week,” Brown added. “We are a better team with him in the line-up and he should return next week.”
