SAINTS players took to social media to thank the fans for their support this season.
After they were edged 11-10 at Headingley on Friday a number of the first team – and the 19s too – wanted to heap praise on those who roared them on throughout the year.
Club Captain Paul Wellens (@pwello80) said: “The boys gave everything, we are all obviously very disappointed. Amazing support from the Saints faithful. We can’t thank you enough.”
Sia Soliola (@kidceezar) said: “I can’t stress how amazing our support has been this year. Through thick n thin u guys have always been there. I’m a Saint until I Die #COYS”
Alex Walmsley (@engywalmsley) has had a remarkable season after joining the club from Batley. He was only expected to play a couple of games but made 26 in total.
“Big thanks to the fans for welcoming me to the club like they have…,” he said. “Sorry there wasn’t a fairytale ending to the year that you deserved.”
Jon Wilkin (@JonWilkin2012) was in a more philosophical mood: “Meet both triumph + disaster + treat those two impostors just the same. Every second in the Redvee is a dream. Thanks family, team + fans xx”
Jonny Lomax’ (@lomax_1990) season has been an interesting one too. Injured for the bulk, he’s moved from scrum half to full back… a position where he has displayed his undoubted class.
“Thanks for everything @Saints1890 fans this year we’ve had some hard times but managed to come through it not the result we’d have liked but onwards and upwards for 2014. Stay positive!! Sorry it wasn’t the send off franny and @Tonypuletua11 deserved Good luck nextyear.”
And finally, Tony Puletua (@Tonypuletua11), who is leaving the club for Salford after 177 appearances had this to say: “Can’t thank u enough @Saints1890 for ur support over the years. Loved every minute here at this great club. Much love to all.”
Saints will welcome Luke Walsh, Mose Masoe, Kyle Amor and Richard Beaumont into their ranks next season.
