Roby: Take The Positives

JAMES Roby says his Testimonial match with Wigan was very special indeed and now Saints have to build on the positives.

The number 9 celebrated 10 years at the club with a intense game with the Warriors on Friday.

“It was great to walk out with my kids,” he said. “It was a good hit-up for us and I’m sure we will get a lot out of it.

“It was a very physical friendly and I thought we did well to go in at half time 12-6 to the good.

“We didn’t have great field position and we gave penalties and the ball away.

“For 60-70 minutes the effort and commitment were there, but they scored a couple of tries at the end.

“We’ll take some positives out of it and improve.”

Friday’s game was the first time Roby had paired up with Jonny Lomax, Jordan Turner and Luke Walsh… alongside Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook at 13.

“Preparations are going well and we are continuing to knit together,” Roby continued. “Luke Walsh has been brought over for a reason and we’ll see the influence he will bring, especially in the big games.

“We’ll continue to work hard as Warrington away is a massive game for us and we will be looking to start with a win.”
