ANTHONY Laffranchi is ready to put his body and pride on the line when Saints take on Leeds this Friday.
Super League’s top two go head to head at Langtree Park and someone’s unbeaten record will be over by the end of the night.
“It will be a big test for us, the biggest one we’ve had,” he said. “We will field the best team we can and be up for the challenge. Leeds have been good this season, they haven’t missed a beat. They look to be rolling on to another successful year.
“I always enjoy playing against them. They have great forwards and you pride yourself on performing well. It will be on TV and we want to repay our fans too for their support.”
Boof, 33, has appeared in all but one of Saints’ games this season in the slightly different role of impact forward, playing off the big men.
“This year has been good for me so far,” he added. “I spoke to the coaches at the beginning of the season and with bigger guys coming in we decided to change my role a bit. I do a little more work off the ball and support those bigger forwards.
“Like Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, I am a mobile forward and it’s our job to put pressure on kickers so if the back three get a good catch on the ball then that is good.
“They get us on the front foot then we can use Robes to his full advantage.”
Saints are six from six this season after making a solid start to the campaign.
Boof continued: “We want to keep this winning run going but we know coming up against Leeds will be a tough challenge. The 17 out there will be giving everything to win.
“In hindsight we have given ourselves the best possible start to the year and now we head into a big month of fixtures. If we come out of it sitting well then it will be good.
“There has been a lot of buzz around the town and it’s good. We have been successful for the first month and a half and with a young squad and new players it has been rewarding for everyone.
“The last two years I have been here results wise for the club haven’t been too good so to win and get that good feeling back is great.”
