Brown: Had To Work Hard

NATHAN Brown was understandably happy with his side’s 50-0 win over Bradford on Sunday.

Saints ran in nine tries to pull within one point of Super League leaders Leeds.

“Coming here, Bradford have had two great wins against two good teams so we had to work hard to where we got to,” he said. “Their team was disrupted by losing Luke Gale before the game but the result wasn’t handed to us.

“Plenty of players had their best games for us and off the back of that they brought James Roby into the game and he was quite superior to anyone on the field. That came off the back of people working and helping him. We also had six young players out there too who have had limited experience and they did well. The lads should be happy with how they’ve done.

“I thought Sia (Soliola) was outstanding and he had a big impact on how the team performed. Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook is getting there after his setback earlier in the season and Mose Masoe is contributing. Those three players had a big say on how we attacked and defended.

“The guys are starting to gain form and improvement.”

He continued: “We are confident and I think people forget we are only a point behind Leeds and are still the only team to beat them. All teams lose games during the year and we’ve had a flat period – some due to our own performance and some due to circumstance.

“I am happy with where we are on the table and if you take away the disappointment of the cup loss – which was clearly disappointing, but was against the best team in the comp, and we are the only team to beat them – then I don’t think there is a need to worry about confidence going forward.”
