PAUL Clough has written the following message after it was announced he was joining Bradford at the end of the season:
At 16 years of age I had the opportunity of a lifetime to sign for my hometown club and fulfil a childhood dream.
At that age I never dreamed that I would play a single first team game, let alone go on to win trophies and be a part of one of the club’s most successful periods.
To have the chance to play in so many big games both with and against some of the best players in recent Super League history was a huge honour.
I’ve cherished the opportunity to wear the Red Vee and play in front of some of the most passionate supporters in Super League both at Knowsley Road and now Langtree Park.
Although I’ll be extremely sad to leave I’m both excited and looking forward to the new challenge presented at Bradford, and hope to be a major part of the club’s steps towards regaining Super League status.
I’d personally like to extend my thanks and gratitude to both the CEO Mike Rush for all that he has done for me as both a junior and professional at the club, and of course the chairman Eamonn McManus with whom I’ve always had an excellent personal relationship with.
Finally, and most importantly, I would like to thank the great supporters who have made my 10 years at the club extra special.
I can guarantee the supporters that every time I’ve pulled on a St Helens jersey I’ve given my absolute best which is the minimum standard required when you represent this great club.
Thank you all
Paul Clough
