LANCE Hohaia will be fulfilling an ambition when he walks out on to the pitch at Old Trafford.
The half back signed for the Club in 2012 and says appearing in Saturday’s Grand Final will be an occasion he will never forget.
“It is certainly part of the reason I came here,” he said. “I wanted to be involved in games like this. I have been to Old Trafford as a fan watching football and rugby league but playing in front of a massive crowd, my family and friends, is an occasion I will remember for a long time.
“Games against Wigan are huge and this is bigger because of what is at stake. It’s a Grand Final, the Super League title. It’s what we get out of bed for and train in winter for. It is why we put our bodies through misery.
“It is something I want to achieve and I have thought about this moment for a long time. I will be doing everything I can to make sure we are on the right side of the scoreboard.”
As a World Cup winner Hohaia has already played in several big games and some with exceptional teams too.
And he believes the culture in this Saints squad is just as strong.
“What we have achieved shows that the culture at the club, even with players missing, is pretty high. The belief in the squad is good and we are confident if we go out there and play as well as we can as a 17, then we are more than capable of winning the match.
“We have a good balance in the squad and the future looks bright too. Hopefully, this Grand Final is one of many more to come.
“Several players have stepped up over recent weekends; Jordan Turner, James Roby and the forwards have been dominating others.
“I have enjoyed the extra responsibility with Luke Walsh being out and doing what I need to do for the team. That is the same for Robes and Jordy. We have played well together and we now have to do that in a Grand Final.”
