PETER Harvey’s fascinating autobiography Redhead With Fire In His Boots is now available in the Saints Superstore.
It tells the story of a local boy born during the war in Scotland, who grew up to achieve success in both rugby union and rugby league between 1957 and 1970.
Harvey enjoyed notable success with the Saints and Warrington and his book charts those winning teams with great tales and views on the legends that littered both sides.
He also focusses on the changes in Union and League brought about by the professionalism of both codes.
This is the journey of a St Helens miner’s son who wended his way to Captain England Schools and play for some of the oldest clubs in the country, before appearing for perhaps the greatest of all Saints teams.
Peter is still involved with the club too through its Players Association.
This is a great book with a gentle humour and is a page turner from first paragraph to last; with a foreword from Eamonn McManus.
