Newcastle Gateshead is the place to come for thrilling sport, dazzling culture and superb shopping, great places to eat and – it’s not just us that say it – one of Europe’s best nights out!

And it’s all served up with a hearty helping of our famous Geordie friendliness, from the moment our iconic Angel of the North welcomes you – literally – with open arms.

At intu Eldon Square you can hop from major department stores like John Lewis and Fenwick to chic boutiques without stepping outside. Intu Metrocentre, Europe’s largest indoor shopping and leisure centre, has over 300 shops as well as restaurants, an IMAX cinema and an entertainment centre to keep kids of all ages amused.

Fancy a spot of history? Then admire the view from the Norman Castle Keep, standing on the original site of the ‘New Castle’ which gave the city its name.

Or step back more than2,000 years to discover our Roman heritage at the Great North Museum: Hancock. And there’s plenty more in store at the Hancock, from live pythons and lizards to a life-size T-Rex skeleton! If you’re hungry for more learning fun, head to Life Science Centre and discover just what makes you human with interactive science demonstrations, a daring 4D motion ride and a range of films and live events in Britain’s most popular planetarium.
