SAINTS have today officially opened The Steve Prescott Garden of Remembrance – a place where fans can pay respects to their loved ones.
Built by Urban Jungle in conjunction with the Original Saints Supporters Club and the Saints, it is situated behind the East Stand at Langtree Park.
Saints Chairman, Eamonn McManus, said: “It is right and proper that the Club has a Garden of Remembrance for the benefit of all fans. It is a place for thought and reflection for all supporters for their loved ones.
“It is our privilege to name the garden after Steve Prescott who, more than any, symbolises the spirit of the Club and of the town.
“We chose carefully from the bible (Timothy 4:6-8) the wording on the garden: ‘I have fought the fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith’. They reflect perfectly the life of Steve and the spirit of the Club and of its supporters past and present.”
Supporters can visit the Steve Prescott Garden of Remembrance to lay floral tributes at any time but we ask if you want to present ashes at site that you contact Phil White at the club first.
Phil can be contacted on 01744 455 050, 07841 371 342 or via [email protected]
We kindly ask fans not to spread ashes at the site without contacting Phil in the first instance as we want to keep a proper and fitting record.
Martin Blondel General Manager of the Steve Prescott Foundation added: “It is a tremendous honour for the family, charity and supporters of the late great Steve Prescott MBE for Steve’s name to be associated with the Garden of Remembrance.
“It is a place for fans to pay their respects and remember all our Saints.
“We would like to thank all who played a part in making this happen.”
