MOSE Masoe wants the pack to put in a huge performance as Saints look to get back to winning ways this Friday.
The big Samoan was part of the Saints side which was humbled at Leeds.
But he hopes to make amends this week.
“You can’t give Leeds an 18 point start and then try and come back,” he said. “You then can’t start the second half alright and then lose the back end of the game.
“We need to get our start done because then we should do alright… but we did everything we could to stuff it up at the weekend.
“In the first five minutes both teams knocked the ball on but they capitalised on our mistakes.
“Leeds had a gameplan and once we made a mistake they pounced and scored tries. We needed to go set to set but we didn’t do that and the score blew out.
“We d’d up for the first 15 minutes of the game and that took a lot out of us. It is easy to fix as a team; if we fix up that area and the penalties then it should make our game a little easier. Easier than trying to come back. That is what we are training to do and we have to come up with the goods this week.”
He continued: “We know we have to try and win as many games as we can to get in a good position. The further up the ladder the better draw and the more home games.
“Ideally, you’d want to finish in the top two and push for first. But we have to start well against Huddersfield to give ourselves the chance to win the game.
“We owe our fans a big pack performance. To dish up what we did wasn’t acceptable for them and the standards we set at St Helens.
“If we stick to the gameplan and keep possession of the ball the hopefully the game will come our way.”
