MATTY Dawson is hoping Saints can continue to build momentum into the “business end” of the season when they face Hull KR at Langtree Park this Friday.
Currently second in the First Utility Super League table, the Champions could go top with a win over the Robins – albeit until Sunday depending on the result of Leeds v Catalans.
“It’s good at the present,” the 24-year-old winger said. “For me I have played in a couple of games after being injured and the team is building some form – especially over the last two games.
“We have snatched late wins and that shows we are a good side; we are a side with a strong character that can play for the full 80 minutes.
“We weren’t good defensively against Huddersfield but we got the win. We’re sticking together and trying to do the small things right.
“We’re still trying to find that consistency – our defence was a lot better against Warrington – and hopefully we can take that into the Super 8s.”
He continued: “It’s the business end of the season and these are the games we want to play in. We want to win this game and build into the Super 8s.
“Of course we want to end this part of the season as high as we can; position is important to us and at the end of the Super 8s we want to be top.
“But we face a tough Hull KR side this week. As a player you want to win every game so we know they will come at us. They will be stinging from their loss to Hull FC and we might get the backlash.”
Tickets for Friday’s game remain on sale from the Ticket Office at Langtree Park, by calling 01744 455 052 or online here.
