St Helens Girls Meet Players

ONE room. Three St Helens players. 10 St Helens Girls players. 150 guests. And a feast of hotpot. The perfect ingredients to a rugby league fundraiser, writes Laura Birchall.

On Thursday July 21 the St Helens Girls and The Exiles supporters group joined forces at the Police Club on Bishop Road for a night filled with a forum, a quiz, a raffle, an auction and did I mention… Hotpot!

The two groups first met in March. The Exiles are a St Helens supporters group that are based in Warrington and they have sponsored a number of St Helens players and youth clubs.

The St Helens Girls are a girls rugby league team based at Thatto Heath Crusaders, ages 11 to 17. Thanks to the generosity and sponsorship of The Exiles, the St Helens Girls now have the funds to buy new shorts and socks for each girl.

To celebrate the sponsorship, the two groups organised and hosted a fundraising evening. With tickets being sold out it was sure to be a fun and FULL evening.

The night began with a forum which included James Roby, Mike Bennett, Anthony Walker and Levy Nzoungou.

Unsurprisingly, the girls and supporters posed some challenging questions to players, which was then follow by photographs, signatures and hotpot.

After being fed and watered, everyone was then ready for the quiz. The night was then ended with a raffle and an auction.

On behalf of The Exiles and The St Helens Girls, I would like to thank everyone who attended or made a donation towards the evening.
