TOMMY Makinson says Saints are not allowing themselves to think too far ahead.
With the playoffs just around the corner – and the club being 80 minutes from a return to Old Trafford – you’d be forgiven for thinking the winger and his teammates would have one eye on their semi-final date.
But Makinson is purely focused on Thursday’s encounter with Warrington.
“There are so many outcomes from this game and so many ways the top four could finish,” he said. “But that’s not our worry. We simply have to put out the best performance we can and then see where we finish.
“From there it is playoff footy.
“Warrington are a great side and perhaps it has been a transitional period for them. The comp is really tight though and there have been a few shocks this year.
“It will be a good game.”
Emotionally, Saints are on a high following their dramatic 18-14 win over Wigan last week.
“It was a great result,” Tommy added. “Whenever you play Wigan you want to come away with the result and that is what we did. It was a good performance, the boys dug deep, and we came away with the points at the death.
“We showed resilience and hung on in there. They were relentless at times, were calm and patient and trapped us in goal. But we made some great tackles, absorbed pressure and then went down the other end of the end and scored.”
