KEIRON Cunningham says Saints have to be ready for Leeds’ fire when the two sides meet on Friday.
It will be the fifth time they’ve faced the Rhinos this season – and the club’s head coach is confident they will do well.
“I am pretty happy with where we are at as a club at the moment,” he said. “We looked a little tired on Friday and I think you could tell the three weeks previous had taken its toll.
“Warrington came to play and were the better side on the night. They wanted to see off some senior players with a bang and got what they deserved.
“It would have been nice to go four straight but this is a massive game and we will be ready for that.”
He continued: “We’ve had an extra days prep for this game and that is really important for us. We have a young squad that needs educating and the more time you can put in the better for the club.
“We’re relatively healthy at the moment. We’re hopeful Alex Walmsley will be ready as we certainly missed his carry the other day.”
Leeds are chasing the treble and a win on Friday would put them 80 minutes away from doing that following the last gasp grab of the League Leaders’ Shield last week.
“I’m really pleased for Mc (Brian McDermott) and for all the players involved,” Cunningham added. “They have consistently have been the best side and at times untouchable.
“They deserved to finish first and it would have been a bit of a travesty if they hadn’t have done that. You write Leeds off at your peril. We know they will fire on Friday like they did on Friday against the Giants and we will have to be ready for that.
“It will be a tough old game and we’re looking to put in a good showing and progress.”
