This Sunday the Shay in Halifax will host the Danny Jones Celebration Match as a Danny Jones Halifax XIII take on a World XIII.
The game will celebrate Danny’s life with a host of stars from the rugby league world past and present – and all money raised on the day will go to the Danny Jones fund.
Before the stars take to the field, there will firstly be a full contact amateur game as Kings Cross & Ovenden select XIII face a Halifax Amateur select XIII at 3pm.
Danny represented both as an amateur, before going on to sign for Halifax.
Following this game, Lizzie Jones will lead out both the Danny Jones Halifax team and World XIII onto the field as she sings Abide with Me, a song she sang so beautifully before the Challenge Cup Final in August.
The main event will start following this at 4pm with Halifax lad and England international Gareth Widdop kicking the game off before battle commences over 4 x 15 minute periods.
