HALF back Dave Hewitt has joined Sheffield on a two-year contract.
The 19-year-old will link up with former teammate Matty Fozard who moved to the Eagles recently.
“We’re really sad to see Dave Hewitt leave the club,” a Saints spokesman said. “Dave has been with us since 2011 after joining from Bold Miners and toured Australia with the Academy the same year.
“He has a great attitude and demonstrated that in the Academy and on loan at Oldham last season. Naturally he wants regular first team football at the highest level and this move will enable him to get that.
“We wish him all the best and will be monitoring his progress. We’ve no doubt he will do really well for the Eagles.”
Jordan Hand, 22, has joined Swinton after playing three times for the Saints.
The prop forward found chances limited in a pack full of internationals and as such played for Rochdale and Whitehaven on dual registration.
