Aston And Kear To Make Draw

THE Second Round of the 2016 Ladbrokes Challenge Cup will take place at RAF Coningsby on Tuesday February 2 from 7pm.

Conducting the draw will be Sheffield Eagles and Ireland coach Mark Aston who lifted the Challenge Cup and Lance Todd Trophy in 1998 after Sheffield’s famous 17-8 win against a dominant Wigan side. This game is still described as the greatest shock in the history of the competition.

Joining Aston is Batley Bulldogs coach, John Kear.

He was in charge of the that Eagles side and also went on to claim a second Challenge Cup victory in 2005 with Hull FC after a thrilling game against Leeds Rhinos at Millenium Stadium, Cardiff.

The draw will be streamed exclusively live on the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup website from 7.00pm – Rugby League fans can watch by visiting

The second round features nine ties involving the 18 winners from the first round and will be played over the weekend of February 13-14.
