KC Pleased With Solid Win

KEIRON Cunningham was pleased with the win and called James Roby “different gravy” after they beat Hull KR 31-22 on Friday.

“It was a good win,” he said. “I was happy with how we built into the game coming off the back of last week. You saw from the Wigan game how tough it is to come off the back of an emotional and physical game the week before.

“The boys were slightly jaded at the start but they stayed in there and gave themselves a real good shot up to half time.

“We had a conversation at half time, changed things around and all credit they came out firing. They only had one thing in mind what they wanted to do. I’m pleased.

“James Roby is different gravy and showed why he is one of the best hookers in the world. Travis Burns has gone a great job in the middle for us as has Morgan Knowles but to have Robes back takes you to a different level.”

He continued: “It is good to win here. I think last time we did I was playing. I’m not big on history and things like that. Every year is a fresh slate. You have to go out, prepare the best you can and have a crack.

“I suppose the news we didn’t want to hear is that Chris Chester was let go in the build up.

“When a new coach comes in you are fighting against players with their backs to the wall. They want to do a good job for their coach and for the future of their contracts.

“We knew they would come out fighting and we did a good job to stay with them for that period.

“We did the job we should have done in the second half.”
