Match Reaction…

KEIRON Cunningham bemoaned Saints “execution” in their loss to Warrington on Friday night.

“I am the first to criticise the players if they aren’t great,” he said. “I thought effort wise we had that in abundance and we worked hard for each other. The difference was we weren’t clinical enough with the ball.

“They had five chances and took them. We didn’t take our opportunities despite having the lion’s share of possession. We came away with nothing. Anxiety because of that led to unforced errors and then we were under the pump. We just weren’t clinical enough.

“I thought we would poke our head in front and kick on after that good start. In the early standings we dominated for large periods but we didn’t get the rewards for what we were doing defensively.

“I’m not happy with the result. Two points would have been great for us. But there are a few more games to go and we will fight as hard as we can. If we keep bringing that effort it will set us a long way to where we want to head.”

He continued: “What we have here is a group of players who are hungry and are determined to work hard for each other. A few weeks ago we didn’t have that.

“The fans are entitled to their opinion. They are desperate for their team to win as we all are. They have to air their frustrations and I don’t take it personally. I understand where they are coming from.

“We are fighting as hard as they want us to and we are working as hard as they want us to. We will get there.”
