Ryan Keen To Make Mark

Ryan Morgan may have only been at the club for a couple of weeks but he is already feeling part of the family.

The 25-year-old joined from Melbourne and has wasted little time in settling down at the Saints.

“I’m loving it so far and the club have been superb,” he said. “When I got off the plane someone was there to pick me up, I have got a place and I’ve not had to ask for anything.

“The boys have made it easy too. It is like a big family here and they have welcomed me with open arms. They are a special bunch.”

Ryan played 92 times in the NRL before making the switch to England – and says it was an ambition of his to play on these shores.

“I have always wanted to come over here and play the game,” he continued. “The club are well known in Australia for being successful and have a rich history. I spoke to Kes (Keiron Cunningham) and he was passionate about the way he wants to build the club and take it forward.

“There is pressure here but there are a lot of great players who have worn the number three jersey in a few of the clubs I have been at. There is a great Aussie legacy here but at the same time I have my own ambitions to fill.

“I want to win trophies, stay injury free and do the best I can for the club. I want to leave a mark on Super League. You can do that by winning trophies and titles. That is our goal.”

Morgan is likely to have Tommy Makinson on his outside in 2017 and he joins a strong back division that is fit and raring to go.

He’s a pacey centre who’s scored 31 tries for his clubs.

“I’ve watched a few of the games and seen the back’s strengths – they look good,” he said. “I’m hoping to mould my game into how they play. “We have a strong back five; a strong back seven really with the halves we have here.

“There is a lot of pace out there and I’m excited about that.”

Ryan’s Saints kick off their 2017 Betfred Super League campaign at home to Leeds Rhinos on Thursday February 9 (8pm).

The best way to secure your spot for that match, and the rest of the season, is with a 2017 Membership.
